Scary! : Such an exam for an 11year old girl is a little scary. You should have insisted of being present or at least have a nurse be with the doctor.

Nurse present !!: I routinely use the parent as my chaperone if i need to examine any child's genitals or breasts. In some circumstances a nurse is needed as a stand in if i need to ask the kid a few questions that mom's presence would hinder, like sexual contact, masturbation, etc. I find it unprofessional for any physician to examine genitals without a parent or nurse present.
