Many state medical boards frown on any physician that treats a family member for anything other than an emergency. Disciplinary action can be taken against that doc in some settings. That said, you can ask how that family member feels about the issue.

An annual physical sounds relatively benign, as opposed to actually managing an active medical problem. The biggest failure I have seen in this sort of situation is not keeping adequate and complete records.
