Microdiskectomy : That could be, or it is the scar maturation that causes some discomfort around the hips esp if the microdiskectomy was done at l4-5. Continue stretching and some anti inflammatories and see how it goes for another month. If not better, you may need a repeat MRI to exclude a re-herniation. That risk is probably about 5%. Good luck!

This could be that : Even after successful disc surgery which is anticipated 90-95% of the time that due to further disc degeneration, 10% can develop back pain over time and there is a 5% chance of a recurrent disc herniation occuring as well as only a portion of the disc that herniated is removed as the rest remains functional. Avoid smoking, being overweight & exercise regularly to minimize issues.
