Selenium Sulfide: Tinea versicolor can be a difficult skin condition to eliminate. The infection has nothing to do with hygiene. It is an overgrowth of certain yeasts that live on the skin. Topically treating with selenium sulfide (the active ingredient in selsun blue) is effective. You need to apply the shampoo to your skin, leave on for 10 minutes, then rinse.

Color returns slow: Once treated with either selenium sulfide, topical antifungals such as ketoconazole or oral antifungals only the scaling will be gone. The color in hypo pigmented tine versicolor will return very slowlyin those cases the tine versicolor appeared lighter than the surrounding skin. Uvb light can be used if ne essay to repugnant skin, although it will return when exposed to sun.
