See a podiatrist: If you have a fungal nail infection, prescribed topical and/or oral medications can be used to address it. Some doctors offer laser treatment for nail fungus, but its indication is more for improving the appearance of the nail, rather than curing the infection. Surgical options are available for more severe infections.

Nail fungus: Onychomycosis or nail fungus can be treated topical or oral anti-fungal medications depending on the severity of the infection. Laser therapy can also be used.

Maybe?: The reason you hear so many different treatments for toenail fungus is because there is no perfect, sure-fire treatment that works 100% of the time. I've seen vaporub work, as well as other natural oil remedies, but rarely. You can also try laser therapy, antifungal creams, paints, or even oral medications if your doctor deems you healthy enough to take them.
