Many things: It could be a traumatic fibroma from sucking tissue through teeth or chewing on your tissue, a lipoma (fat), a fibroma, a wart, cancer, or a host of other chronic problems. Much depends upon the size, location, color(s), painful/not, raised or flat, shape and duration. Get it diagnosed and treated asap. Good luck.
