A member asked:

I have been referred to a neurogenetic specialist and have had mri scans of head and spine. is there a difference between neurologist and neurogenetic specialist and would there have been anything on mri to be referred to neurogenetic specialist?

Perhaps: This is a new label to me, but i assume this doc is a neurologist who focuses in the realm of genetic disorders. Perhaps your studies revealed lesions or anatomy consistent with disorders such as cadasil, or spinocerebellar degeneration, which are indeed genetic. Would follow the advice given, as there seems to be some good thinking in this area.

Well: The neurogeneticist is a subspecialist. Some brain disorders are genetic in orgin and have certain genes associated with them. We are very earl in this stage but there is a special gene dna chip which has multiple genes on it and we are associating diseases and their response to therapy based on the gene chip findings. Ask the neurogeneticist why you were referred.
