Many causes.: Sensitivity is caused by many things. Trauma to a tooth will cause the nerve inside to become inflamed, which causes sensitivity. The question is what is causing the insult? Is it a cavity? Recession? Did you bite down on something hard? An examination and x-ray is necessary to make a proper diagnosis.

See your dentist.: Any tooth sensitivity or pain should be evaluated by a dentist. It is impossible to diagnose what is causing your sensitivity without examination but could be decay, tissue inflammation or a cracked tooth.
