Go to ER now.: Someone with a vp shunt who has new concerning neurological symptoms must be seen immediately to rule out shunt malfunction or infection. These situations can sometimes be life-threatening. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Shunt and headache: I would have your husband evaluated as soon as possible by his neurosurgeon or neurologist. With a severe headache and new neurological finding, in this case stuttering, a shunt malfunction should be ruled out or in.
