MRI: The nerves come off of your spinal cord and exit the spine through little spaces between the vertebrae called neural foramina. These spaces can become narrowed, often due to bone spurs or disc problems. This can cause pain, numbness, tingling in different places depending on which nerve is affected. This MRI image shows narrowing at arrow 1 and more normal other side, arrow 2.
