Persisting pain: Check the occipital triangle via a doctor. Also sometimes an MRI with contrast finds things a cat scan cannot.

The CT needs to be: With contrast to look for subtle things, but the good news is that your horrific impossible pain is not likely to be a brain tumor, and you need a full neurologic w/u to assess migraine, cluster headache, and possibly spinal tap to rule out subtle bleed.
