Talk to the doctor: Many infants cough. Most often, it comes from inhaling milk at least occasionally. Sometimes they catch germs, such as viruses, from a brother or sister or parent. Talk to your son's doctor to see what needs to be done, if anything. Be sure to wash your hands well and cover your coughs while you are sick. A rattle in the chest often means there is mucus in the lungs -- bronchitis or pneumonia.

Rattling breath: Your child's rattle may be caused by a stuffy nose with a post nasal drip. If you have walking pneumonia you should be on antibiotics. After 24 hours you can resume breast feeding your baby, but wear a mask and wash your hans well with soap and water.Check with your doctor. He may have a different opinion. Use saline nose drops for your infant and a vaporizer.
