Not hard: The metal rings (bands) are easily removed with special orthodontic pliers.

Band removing pliers: A band removing pliers is designed to contact the edge of the band near your gum tissue and the other part of the pliers contacts the top surface of your molar. It's a bit like removing an old-school bottle cap.
