Don't Ignore : If you ignore the problem the nail could tear off completely ripping the nail fold. This could lead to infection and a malformed nail as it starts to grow back.

Podiatrist: Sounds like a good reason to call your local podiatrist on monday. While this is not an emergency, ignoring this problem could lead to a really weird/deformed toenail replacing the injured nail. Infection is also much more common if you finish the job yourself. Best to have the expert guide you through this.
