Not ever: If your son is still a kid and you checked him with hands washed and dry and he has no history of diabetes, take him to the hospital now. He has diabetes. His symptoms should include a history of drinking and voiding a lot. He may be very sick until he gets treatment. If this is not his history then please clarify.

Blood sugar: Mean level is 5.5mmol/l or 100mg./dl. , although it fluctuates during the day where it rises after meals. The normal fasting level is 70-100 mg./dl. If not fasting, the level should not exceed 125 mg./dl. For diabetics, the level should be 70-130 fasting, or less than 180 after meals.

You have Diabetes: Nope. I am sure the doctor who ordered the test has already told you what this means. You have diabetes. You need to get back to the doctor to learn what to do next.

Fasting: Less than 100, non- fasting it is very variable. There is a very good test that you can buy at a pharmacy, it is called hba1-c now which will tell you wether your average blood sugar is greater than normal.
