Different sites,: Different values. Some give under 100 mg/dl as normal fasting blood sugar; others say under 120. Follow your doctor or diabetologist's range. Glycosylated hemoglobin (hba1c) is a better measure of long-term glucose control.

Hypoglycemia : Normal blood sugar (glucose) should be 70 to 100 mg/dL or 3.9 when fasting. It is best tested with a finger stick glucose meter, not through blood tests going to the lab. Lab blood tests are not accurate because as the blood sits around the red blood cells use the glucose in the blood and thereby lower it. So, if a finger stick is lower than 70 the person is technically hypoglycemic.

Several things!: If blood sugar is extremely high, you can suck water from the brain, with what is called hyperosmolar coma. Chronically high blood sugars will cause you to become dehydrated. And chronically high HGB a1cs indicate poor control and correlate best with diabetic complications!

65-100: 65-100 when drawn out of a vein while fasting. Various authorities have different "normal" levels. There are, however, no exact cut-offs, it's all a continuium. See diabetes.Org for more into.
