Ask the dentist: While i would like to give you a good answer to your question, you have not supplied enough specific information, nor do we have the benefit of actually being able to clinically examine you. This is something that you need to discuss fully with the dentist who made that statement. He\she should be able to tell you what has happened and what treatment is necessary.

Swollen and crooked: It doesn't make sense to me either. Swollen jaw may be abscess or a slow growing boney growth that is not important. Jaw not straight might be bite is off. Together, they could be broken jaw. Call the dental office. Tell them what you heard and that you don't understand.

Need more info: A swollen jaw can obviously produce an asymmetrical appearance of the face and jaws. More additional information is needed to determine if your swelling is a soft tissue problem or a hard tissue problem related to an abnormality in your jaw producing the asymmetry. Treatment will depend upon the correct diagnosis.
