A member asked:

Can the doctor know if my daughter who is 7 months has myopia -5 degree and she has to wear sunglasses ?

Yes: However, myopia is measured in diopters, not degrees, and can be measured objectively without the patients input. Sunglasses are 'suggested' for everyone, including children, but not mandatory unless pt was dilated and temporarily needed sunglasses. Certain diseases would require sunglasses, but would be rare.

Yes: Ophthalmologists can determine the need for glasses in all ages, even infants.
