Depends: If you're feeling well and your stools are formed, could be constipation, which is very common after colitis improves. For this you can use stool softeners like miralax (polyethylene glycol). If you have lose stools or have urgency or diarrhea, your colitis may not be in control, and you should see your doctor.

GI doctor: Best advise is to make sure you get management from a gastroenterologist who is used to taking care of inflammatory bowel disease. Usually a combination of meds including steroids, sulfasalazine, etc are used. This is a complex disease and you should get your advise from a doctor that knows your history well.
