Can sleeping with contacts on damage your eye sight?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sleeping in contacts: Although several lenses are fda approved for extended (overnight) wear i don't recommend it. As a corneal specialist I am referred many corneal ulcers and literally the majority of these are in patients that sleep in their contacts, many that are "obeying the rules" and not stretching the lens disposal guidelines. Your safest options? Take out extended wear lenses at night or switch to dailies.
