See dentist: You need to see a dentist to find out why you are grinding your teeth. It may be that your bite needs to be adjusted. You may have obstructive sleep apnea and will need a sleep study. An oral sleep apnea appliance will stop the tooth grinding. If no cause can be found, it could be stress or several other things, then a custom made night guard would be in order. Do not use an otc night guard.

Night guard: There are night guard kits that can be customized at home. Dentists can also make a custom one from a mold. Another approach is to write your stresses of the day down in a notebook in the evening to release tension and give yourself the suggestion "i will not grind my teeth tonite"; try that ten times before bed. Sometimes that makes a big difference. Stress can be the true cause of the grinding.
