Talk to your doctor: Many people fear that endoscopy-- specifically colonoscopy-- will hurt or that something bad will happen during it. Sedation is available and widely used. While there are risks to the procedure (infection, bleeding, perforation, missed diagnoses, and incomplete procedure) they are rare and manageable compared to undiagnosed colon cancer. You should discuss your concerns with your doctor.
