Bad Finger: Deformity or loss of function. If it looks like a finger and moves like a finger, then minimal worries. If it is short, rotated, or angulated, then it should be straightened. If movement at the joints is too painful, then it needs treatment. If straight and can move well, then buddy taping x 3-4 weeks should be fine.

Malalignment.: If your pinky heals in a rotated or malaligned position, then you could have a crooked or non-straightening finger. It should be evaluated by an orthopedic hand specialist.
