A member asked:

Does vision affect a person's cognitive function?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Indirectly, yes: Visual loss in and of itself will not cause a loss of cognitive function. However, it may worsen the situation in people with dementia, as it impairs orientation and general functioning. So, a person with dementia and severe cataract may see an improvement in functioning if the vision is improved.
