"cured": Cerebral malaria. If parasite-filled blood cells block small blood vessels to your brain (cerebral malaria), swelling of your brain or brain damage may occur. Treating the malaria is important obviously...But intensive monitoring and hospitalization are needed. This is why its important for all people to be prophylaxed/treated; the full blown thing because once occurring it carries consequences.
