May be dry socket: Please call the surgeon, and ask for a post op appointment. A dry socket happens when your clot falls out of the tooth socket. These can be extremely painful. The surgeon will know if this has happened, and what remedy to use. Take care...

Happens often: When you lose the blood clot, the bone and lining in the socket is no longer covered and protected. This is known as a "dry socket". See your oral surgeon for treatment of this. You will get almost instant relief. It will take a few weeks and a few dressing changes for this to heal to the point of comfort. It must now fill-in from the bottom up. Takes longer. Good luck.

Dry socket: Loss of blood clot will cause a condition known as dry socket. Dry socket usually caused by an infection which leads to loss of blood clot and thus exposing the bone socket, thus termed dry socket.
