A bit more than that: A serious blow to the temple that results in a skull fracture can lacerate the middle meningeal artery and cause an epidural hematoma. This is a neurosurgical emergency that must be evaluated and treated promptly or a person can slip into a coma and die. A slower subdural hematoma can cause issues as well. Any head trauma with changes in mental status should be evaluated promptly.

Please repost: Is this a purely speculative question or are you asking because you or someone you know got punched? Please clarify where in the head and by what. Also, we don't see post dates at our end: how long has it actually been, i.e. has it already been days or weeks? Also, have there been any symptoms to suggest this might happen?
