Several causes: Any narrowing if the airway from the nose to the throat can cause snoring. In most people the cause is a combination of factors, not just one. These factors can be a deviated septum, enlarged nasal turbinates, large tonsils and/ or tongue, and a long, floppy palate and uvula. Be aware that sleep apnea can accompany snoring and ask your doctor if you need a sleep study to rule it out before surgery.

Sleep apnea: Snoring in sleep is not entirely benign - it is often associated with sleep apena which robs your brain of oxygen - this can contribute to fatigue, anxiety, attention and even memory complaints. It has also been associated with risk for increased blood pressure. The cause for sleep apnea can vary and various treatment interventions or approaches can be suggested.

Unanswered Questions: Snoring is a symptom. In my opinion you need a sleep study. Your husband seems to feel you snore loudly. Does he say you stop snoring, then gasp for air and start snoring again? Do you have high blood pressure? Do you have morning headaches? Do you wake up tired or need to take naps? These are all signs of sleep apnea which have major health consequences if untreated.
