Doctor suspects i have sleep apnea. cause i snore once and wake up feeling without breath. he refered me for the test. my concern is will they notice if sleep apnea cause not every night happens approx 2 or 3 times a week?

Sleep apnea is a pattern defect. Those affected by this issue have events every hour or so during sleep as their body moves through the different sleep stages. If you truly have treatable sleep apnea it will show up on a standard study. Affected people rarely fully awaken for most of their events.

As long as you do sleep during an overnight monitored sleep study, you will experience episodes of sleep apnea if that is truly your diagnosis. One night's observation is almost always adequate and conclusive. If you have sleep apnea, it occurs whenever you fall asleep.

Agree with Drs. Ferguson and Mechanic. If you are overweight losing weight is a must to address obstructive sleep apnea. The sooner you start with reduction in caloric intake and increase in physical activity, the better. Losing weight is not easy, but essential.
