A member asked:

Why does your foot get worse after it's fracture?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Injury: A broken bone is only part of the problem. The injury which breaks the bone also causes damage to the soft tissue which results in pain and swelling. Severe swelling, known as compartment syndrome, is a surgical emergency. Rice therapy is the best way to treat the painful side effects of a broken bone.
