Allergies /dryness: There are many reasons you might have thick dry mucus for a while. The most common are allergies and dry air. The nose makes mucus as a filter to clean the air we breathe but the mucus needs a lot of water to work properly. Allergies make it too dry as does the winter cold air. A simple gel made for the nose like ayr gel applied 2x/day is usually enough to fix it, along w allergy meds.
