Can a hormone inbalance affect your pitiary and thyroid or is the pituary gland responsable for the hormone inbalance?

The pituitary is a gland in your brain that "reads" the level of certain hormones in the body, and then puts out various levels of stimulating hormones depending on circulating levels. For example, if there's not enough thyroid hormone being made by the thyroid, the pituitary puts out more TSH - and vice versa. But pituitary disease can alter the pituitary's response.
