A member asked:

Will and ssri be helpful in getting me out of very deep depression where i'm totally isolated, just want to sleep my life away, thinking badly?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It could: Ssris are often very effective in treating depression, but a combination of medication and psychotherapy often better than either alone. Close follow up in psychotherapy also can help monitor for emergence of problematic reactions and work on reducing isolation and increasing activity. Creating some structure and developing a routine to reduce withdrawal can also be helpful.
