Is it depression?: Are you & your doctor sure that your problem is nothing but depression? There are 3 possible reasons for this: 1. Really bad depression; 2. Antidepressants often don't work as well as advertised; 3. You have an undiagnosed organic condition that is causing or exacerbating your depression. If you haven't already ruled out #3, see an internist.

Depression Treatment: Once a diagnosis of depression has been made effective management involves three specific strategies: 1) patient education, 2) nonpharmacological management, and 3) pharmacological (medical) management. See a psychiatrist for evaluation, tests and treatment.

Yes there is HOPE !!: Insure that you have a comprehensive medical evaluation to rule out medical causes of your symptoms. If you are not being followed by a psychiatrist -strongly recommend it. Another SSRI or addition of other meds such as abilify (aripiprazole) or a mood stabilizer may be indicated.Talk about feelings & address problems. Don't avoid them. Aim for 7.5 - 8 hours of sleep/ night. Daily physical activity is optimal >
