Avoid salt.: Salt tends to raise bp. Good balanced diet and exercise (keeping your bmi<25) helps. You may still have high BP despite your efforts....So go see a doctor for checkups every 1-2 weeks until it is treated. I dont know your risk factors, but if you are a male, over 45, smoker, fm hx of cad, and hx of dm/hyperchol, you are at high risk. Go see your doc.

See a doctor: The first thing to do is to determine the cause for the hypertension. Then, although food intake and exercise may be good adjuncts to your health, hypertension should be carefully controlled by your doctor with prescription medications if there is no other obvious cause. The hidden risks of high BP are numerous and potentially life-threatening. Go see someone soon.

Cardio best!: Avoid sodium. Canned foods; salt; ketchup, sauces. Eat potassium rich vegetables and berries. Take a magnesium supplement (400mg/day). Increase calcium intake. Cardio exercises best for bp. And relax!

Changing BP: Achieve ideal weight; don't smoke; eat only low salt, low sugar, no saturated fats, high intake of fruit and veggies and whole grains, avoid breads, pizza, muffins; egg white is excellent; lean meat modest portions only; exercise twice daily; nuts are excellent - unsalted. Colored fruit and colored veggies are best.
