Numbness: The hallmark of carpal tunnel syndrome is numbness in the the hand. The numbness will be in the thumb, index, middle and one half of the ring finger. The pinky will be spared.

Median nerve: Carpal tunnel syndrome involves compression of the median nerve at the carpal tunnel in the wrist. The median nerve goes on to supply the thumb, index, and middle fingers. Symptoms can include pain, numbness, parasthesias, weakness or cramping.
