Tattoo: What do you mean already started? Lidocaine/prilocaine cream (emla) is a topical anesthetic. It can be used on the tattoo during the tattooing process (although it takes about 45 - 60 minutes under occlusion to work.) it can be used prior to putting a tattoo on or taking a tattoo off with a laser. Although usually when we use a laser to take off a tattoo we injest local anesthetic.

EMLA (lidocaine and prilocaine) cream: You can apply lidocaine/prilocaine cream to a tattoo, but keep in mind it takes 45minutes or more to have any real effect.
