A member asked:

My son popped a little red bump on the corner of his mouth 50 minutes ago and it won't stop bleeding. he has been holding pressure on it. ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It should stop: Any bumps on a person's skin that bleed when popped, usually stop bleeding in less than 10 minutes if direct pressure is put on the spot. A person can use a tissue, gauze, or paper towel. A spot can bleed longer if the person keeps taking pressure off the spot, to look at it. After bleeding stops, a spot may ooze a little, for a few hours. A doctor can evaluate if bleeding doesn't stop.
