Enlarged prostate: As men get older, their prostate gland gets larger. This can obstruct urine flow, causing the symptoms you describe. He needs to go right away to see his doc for evaluation and treatment. While this can be effectively treated, if he waits too long, there are permanent problems than can result.

Slow urination: Does he have any pain or any blood in the urine? May be enlarged prostate gland, or may be passing stone or inflammation that's partially blocking urine passage. Needs to see fp or urologist soon before urine flow is completely blocked. Enlarged prostate can be treated with meds or surgery. Doc can advise options.
