A member asked:

Are ct scans safe for children?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

May be: Ct scans are done to further evaluate the illness, when no other better measure is available and knowing the problem will allow a timely management and prevent the complication. Ct scans carry several times more radiation exposure than the ordinary x rays. But for certain illnesses properly done ct gives a timely information. Parent should keep record of it to avoid unnacessary duplications.
