Yes. However,: We use different concentrations of barium for ct as opposed to conventional fluroscopy. If you had an upper GI series, small bowel series or barium enema, that needs to pass through the GI tract before you can take the oral barium for ct which is much more dilute. Barium sulphate suspension is essentially inert, and completely safe to ingest.

Yes,: barium is safe with a CT scan. Dilute barium is often used as oral contrast for a CT. Non dilute barium(for example from a barium enema) will cause an artifact on CT which could obscure much of the anatomy and render the scan useless, so although it is not harmful to you, it could ruin the scan.
