Also depends: Risk of any surgery depends on age and other health conditions. Older and more health issues, higher the risk of heart attack, stroke and even death. With incontinence surgery, specifically, injury to bladder, ureter, bowel and blood vessels. Infection, blood transfusion, though rare. Urine retention, "can't pee". These are a few, the consent form is a full page, small print.

NEED MORE FACTS: There are so many different types of sugeries for different degress and types of incontinenc all are associated with different degrees and types of complications.Please be more specific as to type of problem so the question can be better answered. Botom line: incontinence is pretty miserable and can be treated. There is no reason to live in diapers. Seek the experts for best results.

Depends: There are risks to any surgery. Discuss details with your doctor. Risks can be bleeding, infection, injury, temporary/permanent retention of urine, incontinence, erosion or exposure of implanted materials, sexual dysfunction, anesthesia reactions, medication reactions, hospitalization, death.....
