Are pain killers needed during stitching and after removing them from a bunionectomy?

Not for removal: I would assume that you will still be under anesthesia for suturing after the bunionectomy has been completed. For removal, it is usually not done under anesthesia and most patients tolerate it well. If you have a low pain threshold, or are still having a lot of pain, you can always take an oral pain killer before you have the stitches removed.

Generally no: Not sure i understand your question. To remove stitches or sutures from a bunionectomy incision does not require pain killers. You would feel slight pinches. To place the stitches would require anesthesia, but this would have been done during the bunionectomy surgery.

Stitches out.: Sometimes removing stitches can feel a bit "pinchy". If you're concerned, take your post-op pain medication prescribed by your doctor before your office visit to remove the stitches. It doesn't hurt any more than what you've already been through with surgery!
