Yes: All the scales i know of that measure body fat do so by a priciple of electrical impedance. You usually have your feet on a "pad" that is metallic and a very small electrical current is sent from one pad to the other. Since electricity travels at different speeds through water, fat, bone and muscle it can calculate what percentage is fat. Totally harmless (except for the result!).
