Can acyclovir be taken for bacterial infection?

It should not...: Acyclovir is an anti-viral compound, not an anti-bacterial drug. It should not be used to treat any bacterial infection. Acyclovir is a common anti-viral used to treat shingles, chicken pox, or herpes outbreaks.
