A member asked:

Can acyclovir be taken for bacterial infection?

It should not...: Acyclovir is an anti-viral compound, not an anti-bacterial drug. It should not be used to treat any bacterial infection. Acyclovir is a common anti-viral used to treat shingles, chicken pox, or herpes outbreaks.

No: Acyclovir treats viral conditions like chicken pox, genital herpes, cold sores or shingles. These are not bacterial conditions.
