A member asked:

I received a 2 week course of augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) sr & acyclovir/emla cream for nose infection. what is this specific infection called and what causes it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nasal infection?: Have no idea what you have. The Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) is an antibiotic designed to treat bacterial infection with organisms common to the upper respiratory tract, and the Acyclovir is an anti-herpesvirus agent which has no efficacy used topically. You need to discuss what your doctor found with them, or get a second opinion.
