It depends,4-6 weeks: Small asymptomatic umbilical hernias can be managed individually: watched/expectant, repaired.If you do not plan to move to a undeveloped country, you can wait for either the hernia to get larger or when it starts to bother you to get it fixed.If the hernia is causing some discomfort and/ or you work=out a lot you should consider elective hernia repair. It is low risk and a short recovery(4-6 weeks.
