It may be muscular: Muscles in your shoulder/neck/chest wall can become tight and tender and produce pain that may be mistaken for cardiac pain or pain from a pinched nerve. If you are aware of stiffness or tender spots in muscles in your neck or shoulders, this can suggest that those muscles are the source of the pain. If the pain is recent, simple relaxing, limbering and stretching exercises may help.
