Why switch to amlodipine 25mg from hydrochlorothiazide 25mg?

Should not: Maximum dose of amlodipine is 10 mgs. Comsidering the dose is less than 10 mgs, it may have been switched to amlodipine for BP control or because you had side effect of hydrochlorothiazide.

Not a good idea: Amlodipine (norvasc) should not be used at 25mg dose (of label use). It's way too high dose and will likely cause ankle swelling. Typical dose is 5mg or 10mg per day.
