Why ever?: Sterilizing of bottles is a throw back to a time when parents made formula from condensed cow milk & it needed to be boiled to make it digestible. Babies also had problems with staph germs that were resistant to available abx. Today we know that a good bottle brush & cleaning the same way as your regular dishes is all that is necessary. Ditch the sterilizer & enjoy the extra time with your kid.
